You want a perfect Christmas tree with all the decorations and lights, right! But, in reality, achieving this is easier said than done. Decorating that unlit artificial Christmas tree is not that easy if you are a perfectionist. You want your tree to be the centerpiece of the home this festive season.
Luckily, we have you covered with some helpful tips, but you need some tools before starting. So get some cotton gloves, scissors, and a sturdy ladder.
#1 Invest in a Quality Artificial Tree
For a sturdy yet durable tree, it helps to invest in one made with premium materials, and many high-quality fake trees are available. These trees you can use repeatedly year after year. So instead of getting a trend-led one, get a traditional tree that never goes out of fashion.
You can layer and decorate it as you wish. But, whether you choose an unlit or pre-lit Christmas tree, an important thing is getting storage bags and boxes. Doing this help you to keep all your festive decorations neatly packed away.
#2 Fluff and Shape Your Tree
Fluffing is an essential part of decorating your faux tree to give it a fuller look, and yes, it appears more natural. It is backbreaking, but the end results are worth it. First, start separating each branch with your glove on to fan them out as much as possible.
Next, shape and bend those branches to fill up any gaps. Then stand back to see if you notice any gaps. If there are, you can always use your decorations later to fill up those holes.
#3 Start With Your Lights
You can create magic on your unlit artificial Christmas tree by adding lights. Now is the time to add some sparkle to your fake tree. We recommend using the plug as a starting point to wrap the lights around your tree.
Work your way from the center at the base, up the trunk, wrapping evenly and weaving upwards. When you reach the crown of the tree, wind back down, reaching the tips of the branches. Ensure that you place the bulbs under a branch with the next one over the branch.
#4 Choose Your Decorations
When you choose decorations for your Christmas tree, it helps to use garlands, ornaments, and ribbons, that compliment the tree’s appearance. The important thing is to create balance when spread out to your liking.
Arrange your embellishment, starting at the top and working towards the bottom. Then cluster your baubles in different sizes for some flair by placing the same pieces together or even contrasting ones. Finally, you can dangle your glass baubles at the top and add your special ones last. If you have a 7.5-foot tree, you will need about 80 baubles to give it that complete look.
#5 Layer Your Ribbons and Add Tree Picks
Layering ribbons are a great way to elevate your unlit artificial Christmas trees. You can use them in pairs with contrasting textures at different widths. To make things simpler, you can use ones with wired edges making them easy to shape.
Then add berries, branches, or pinecones to add subtle accents to the look, grouping them together with floral wire without overpowering your other decorations. Now, end it off with an eye-catching tree topper and a tree skirt.
